很多家长觉得美国公立学校课程安排不够“给力”，师资不够雄厚，孩子经常在学术上有“吃不饱”的感觉。美国顶尖学校以其顶尖的教育，学校优渥的教育资源，完备的教育体系和学生升入名校（或者心仪的学校）的高比例让很多家长心动，开始考虑安排孩子就读私立学校。

美国中学的权威点评网Niche最近综合考察了美国的各个学校的教育数据，新鲜出炉了美国最佳顶尖私立学校排名。这个排名参考的主要数据包括各个学校的SAT/ACT平均分，师生人数比例，大学入学考试参与比例，学生进入大学质量，以及毕业生和家长们对学校的满意程度等。

虽然美国的顶尖私立学校分布于很多个州，但是最优秀的教育资源依然是集中在加州和东部的新英格兰地区: 榜单前25名有22所在加州和东部的新英格兰地区，前100名加州和东部的新英格兰地区占了70所。

相对前两年的榜单前25名发生了很大变化: 排前十名的三所纽约私立学校全都跌出前25名之外，排名不变的只有Phillips Academy（菲利普斯学院）依然雄踞榜首。
